About this artist
Dan Crisp
Due to an overwhelming phobia of Public Speaking, in my early teens, I decided the best career path for me would be the solitary life of an Illustrator.
I think the fear began when I was about 8, in the school play, I was the back end of the Dragon. It was hot under the green blanket so we were all in our vests and undies. There was a bucket filled with torn paper on the stage; to put out the dragon¹s flames.
As the Dragon moved forward, my foot got stuck so I bent down to try to free myself from the bucket. The Dragon moved off stage. I was frozen in the spotlight, in my vest and grundies, with a bucket on my foot, on the last night, with the whole School, Teachers and Parents, ROARING with laughter at me.
Luckily I did not make use of the bucket.
I am hopeful I will never win an award for anything, as the fear still lives with me to this day.
I am glad I became an illustrator; I love what I do, and I love being with bright.
My skills extend to humour, optical illusion and visual trickery.
